Purchasing a Puppy

General Information:

All of our puppies will be dewormed and given probiotics at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age. They will be vet checked, microchipped, and receive their first vaccination. Any puppies still with us beyond 8 weeks will receive the proper extra dewormings/vaccines for their age. Puppies will have their health record, AKC limited registration (see below for information on full registration), and a puppy pack. Their puppy pack will include a small bag of the food all our dogs are on, Victor Professional, as well as probiotics for the first week of adjustment to their new surroundings. Also included is a blanket, treats, an informative booklet, a toy and some other practical and fun things!

Full AKC Registration:

Most of our puppies will come with limited registration (no breeding rights). Full registration is only offered to approved breeders, on select puppies. There will be an added fee, how much depends on which bloodlines the puppy is selected from.

Waitlist:

If we do not have any puppies currently available, or if you are interested in a different sex/coloration, you are welcome to join our waitlist for our next expected litter! Once a sire or dam is a proven breeder, a $200 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot on our list. We will let you know when we expect to have another litter, but it may change some as we cannot 100% guarantee when our dogs will have puppies! When our dam is confirmed pregnant, we will contact you and let you know when we expect the puppies to be born. We will send you pictures of the litter when they arrive. When we feel the pups are thriving and doing very well, usually between 1 and 3 weeks of age, we will go down our list in order and send pictures of the available puppies. You will have 24 hours to make your choice, and then we will go ahead and contact the next person. You can still select a puppy at that point, but someone else might be selecting as well. If a deposit was placed to hold your spot on our waitlist, no other payment is due until time of pickup. If we did not require a deposit due to waiting to confirm a sire or dam is compatible, a $200 non-refundable deposit is required at the time you select your puppy. Purchasing:

After we have gone through the waitlist, all remaining puppies will become available. Once you select your puppy and pay the deposit for us to hold your puppy until 8 weeks of age, the steps are the same for those who were on the waitlist and those who selected a little later. We will post weekly pictures, updates, and sometimes videos on our Facebook page, Sunny South Bassets. If you are not on Facebook, we can also text you pictures and updates of your reserved puppy! We do not allow puppy visits until 6 weeks of age when they have received their first vaccination. After 6 weeks, we welcome you to come visit your puppy! If you have not selected a pup by 6 weeks old, you can come meet any unreserved ones. At 8 weeks of age, it is time for you to pick up your pup! The remaining price is due at this time. Pricing varies depending on the amount of European in your puppy’s bloodline, but you can expect it to range from $1,400-$1,800 for limited registration. If you cannot pick up your reserved puppy at 8 or 9 weeks of age, we can continue to hold your puppy until you can. After 9 weeks, a $50 per week boarding fee is required.

Returning Customers:

We love seeing our puppies go home with our previous Basset families! We offer a discount on a future puppy if you have already adopted one. We have a discount for new customers who are purchasing two puppies from the same litter as well: the first is full price, and the second is $100 off.

Health Guarantee:

We guarantee our puppies health for the first week after they leave our care. If during that time they are taken to the vet and found to have any health issues that clearly began here (remaining parasites, ear infection, bladder infection, ect.), we will reimburse you for the cost of the treatment upon seeing the reciept from your veterenarian.

Our Policies:

We hope that all our puppies will have found their perfect home, however we understand that sometimes things come up. We are always willing to have you bring back one of our Bassets that you have adopted, but we cannot refund you the adoption fee if it has been more than 2 days from adoption. If you are not satisfied with your puppy within 2 days from pick up, we will refund you part of the adoption fee. We will seek to find the right home for any Bassets that come back into our care.

If you place a $200 deposit on a puppy, remember that they are non-refundable unless a health problem is discovered by our veterenarian concerning your reserved puppy. If your puppy is found to have an umbilical hernia, we will reduce the price by $200 at pickup to cover the additional cost of repair during spaying/neutering. They do close up on their own sometimes by 12 weeks.
